Minister of State for Labor, Charles Okello Macodwogo Engola has been shot dead.
The minister, a retired colonel of the army was gunned down at his home by his own UPDF guard on Tuesday morning.
Several government officials including Speaker of Parliament Hon Anita Among confirmed the development. Engola was also the MP for Oyam North.
The officer after shooting his boss, opened fire in the middle of the road in Kyanja.
He was reportedly heard screaming frustrations about non-payment, before he started randomly shooting rounds in the area.
Residents scampered for safety as the officer fired about 20 times, according to eye witnesses.
He then turned the gun on himself.

Several police officers from a near by police stations responded to the scene.
