LG Electronics East Africa has reaffirmed its commitment to Uganda through a strategic expansion to meet the country’s rapidly growing demand for home appliances and consumer electronics.

This commitment is being executed in partnership with its sole distributor, Appliance World Limited (AWL).

According to LG, Uganda’s home appliance market is projected to grow at an expected compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 10.62%, and the company is positioning itself to meet the rising demand with innovative, energy-efficient, and sustainable solutions tailored to local households.

“Uganda’s growth mirrors a broader regional trend. In East Africa, the home appliance market is expected to grow significantly, with compound annual growth rates (CAGR) of 10.75% in Kenya, 10.50% in Tanzania, and 13.02% in Ethiopia. LG’s expansion in Uganda is part of its wider East African strategy to respond to this surging demand across key markets,” LG noted in a statement issued on Thursday.

LG’s regional expansion comes at a time when consumer demand for modern home appliances continues to grow, driven by lifestyle changes, urbanization, and rising middle-class incomes.

Speaking during the 31st Uganda International Trade Fair organized by the Uganda Manufacturers Association (UMA) under the theme “Sustainable Industrialization for Inclusive Growth, Employment and Wealth Creation,” Jane Kariuki, LG East Africa Regional Head of Marketing, highlighted Uganda’s importance in LG’s strategy which aims at harnessing the country’s young population that boasts a dynamic, modern lifestyle.

The Trade Fair is underway and will carry on till October 12th, 2025.

“Uganda is an important market for us with a young, dynamic population that is increasingly seeking modern household appliances that fit their lifestyles. Participation in the UMA Trade Exhibition allows us to engage directly with our customers and partners, reinforcing our long-term commitment to Uganda and the region. This exhibition is the ideal platform for us to showcase our latest innovations, while deepening partnerships with government, industry, and local distributors,” Ms. Kariuki said.

The LG exhibition is co-hosted by the Embassy of the Republic of Korea in Uganda, KOTRA (the commercial section of the Koren Embassy in Uganda), and the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA).

The Exhibition brings together entrepreneurs among other private and public sector players to highlight Uganda’s industrial resilience, innovation, and opportunities for growth.

“Our expansion in East Africa is about being closer to our customers. We have seen a steady increase in demand for energy-efficient home appliances that make life more convenient and sustainable. By strengthening our presence in East Africa, we are ensuring that our customers have easier access to innovative LG solutions and dependable after-sales service. This strategy reflects our vision of transforming everyday living experiences for all our customers,” she added.

At the exhibition, LG will showcase a variety of home appliances and home entertainment products on offer in partnership with Appliance World Limited (AWL) Uganda.
