KAMPALA: 4 Arrested Over Car Thefts, Recovered Vehicles Listed

Police has published registration numbers of 10 motor vehicles which were recovered during an operation launched by the Flying Squad team on October 26, 2023, targeting notorious car thugs who steal and sell motor vehicles around the Kampala Metropolitan area.

According to a statement issued by the Senior Commissioner of Police (SCP) Hadijah Namutebi, one suspect by the names of Kisule Juma was arrested to help in the investigation and recovery.

Kisule, upon interrogation, admitted to being part of the racket that steals and sells motor vehicles and revealed his accomplices.

The suspects who include Kavuma Godfrey, Sekindu Henry and Kakuru Mulinda Sepriano were later arrested from Wobulenzi in Luwero District.

“During interrogation, Kavuma and Senkindu Henry admitted to the offences of stealing and selling motor vehicles. They also revealed the people and places where they sell them. Kavuma Godfrey led the team to Nakasongola and Masaka Districts where several motor vehicles were recovered from the people who had bought them,” the statement reads in part.

Here is a list of the motor vehicles which were recovered from the gang:

1) UAR 054S Ipsum Silver in colour.

2) UAN 397 U Ipsum pearl white.

The two above were recovered from Ganda in Nansana

3) UBA 306F Noah pearl blue recovered from Kavuma Muhammed in Nakasongola.

4) UAP 295T Noah white in colour recovered from Kasubi in a parking yard.

5) UAS 293V recovered from Lukwago Amisi in Nyendo – Masaka

6) UAY 073X Sienta white in colour recovered from Kisule Musa in Nyendo – Masaka.

7) UAH 131L Corona white in colour recovered from Kayiwa in Nyendo – Masaka.

8) UAV 360B – Premio white in colour

9) UAP 898U Ipsum

10) UAQ 508D – Rav4.

All the above motor vehicles were stolen by the gang and sold out to unsuspecting customers.

SCP Namutebi said more recoveries and arrests are ongoing and the suspects will appear in court on charges of stealing motor vehicles.

“The recovered vehicles are with us at Flying Squad Headquarters, Kireka,” she noted.
