The Kabaka (king) of Buganda, Ronald Muwenda Mutebi ii, is today celebrating his 68th anniversary.
The Kingdom’s 36th monarch has reigned since July 1993, following the restoration of cultural institutions in Uganda by the current government.
Ahead of his 68th birthday, scores of royalists and supporters from other parts of the country have recently taken to social media to congratulate the king and wish him well.
Under the hashtag KabakaWange on twitter, there has also been outpouring support for the king, following recurrent concerns about his health.
As has been the norm for the last decade, preparations are underway for the annual Kabaka Birthday run which is scheduled for this Sunday, April 16th at Lubiri in Mengo.
Proceeds from the marathon go to support the fight against HIV/AIDS in Uganda.
