Endiro Coffee’s Uganda Bududa Bukalasi Coffee has won the new product award in the Coffee and Cocoa Category as part of the Specialty Food Association’s (SFA) 2022 sofi™ Awards, a top honor in the $170.4 billion specialty food industry. This marks the first time a Ugandan product has won this high honor.

Endiro Coffee’s Uganda Bududa Bukalasi Coffee was one of 102 winners selected by a panel of specialty food experts from nearly 2,000 entries across 53 product categories. Products are judged on taste, including flavor, appearance, texture and aroma, ingredient quality, and innovation. All tastings are anonymous and are held at the Rutgers Food Innovation Center.

“We are honored that our flagship coffee has won a New Product Award,” says Cody Lorance, Co-CEO of Endiro Coffee. “As entrepreneurs, we are always looking for ways to know that our product is loved. This is one of the ultimate stamps of approval for the work done by Endiro farmers in Uganda and our roastery team in the USA and we’re very grateful.” Endiro’s Uganda Bududa Bukalasi Coffee is available online at endirocoffee.com, at our café locations and in participating retailers including Trader Joe’s.

“Ultimately, the most important thing is that the business we operate continues to help us realize our vision of ending child vulnerability in Uganda and around the world”, added Endiro founder and Co-CEO, Gloria Katusiime. “This sofi™ Award demonstrates that good coffee can be produced in a way that helps farming families and the planet. Good coffee should always result in good from tree to cup.”

The sofi Awards are open to members of the SFA and have been given each year since 1972. Winners will be showcased at the 2022 Summer Fancy Food Show, running June 12-14, at the Javits Center in New York City. Open only to the trade, it is the largest East Coast B2B-only specialty food and beverage show. For more information, visit specialtyfood.com.
