Several female members of Parliament have Thursday morning been rounded up by police as they marched in protest over the brutality meted on their colleagues by Police.
The MPs, all dressed in black were picked up at Parliament’s Main Gate as they marched towards Ministry of Internal Affairs in protest against the brutality of security agencies.
Some of them were bundled up in a waiting truck and a drone. The police offices also used pepper spray on the protesters according to a video shared by the Leader of Opposition in Parliament, Mathias Mpuuga.

The legislators were protesting the continued brutal arrest of their colleagues by police during the celebrations to mark Women’s Day in the respective constituencies.
Some of the MPs who were brutally arrested include Hon Joyce Bagala of Mityana on March 30th and Buvuma District Woman MP Susan Mugabi, who was seriously injured on April 21st and is still hospitalized.
Other Woman MPs who have had their women’s day events cancelled include, Stella Opolot Isido, the woman MP for Ngora district (FDC), Hon Florence Kabugho (FDC) of Kasese District and Hon Brenda Nabukenya (NUP) of Luwero.
Yesterday, women MPs under the Uganda Women Parliamentary Association (UWOPA) petitioned the Speaker of the House Anita Among on the same matter.
Earlier this month, Deputy Prime Minister Hon Rukia Nakadama condemned the conduct of police on the elected leaders and ordered all RDCs to put an end to these acts.

IGP Martins Okoth Ochola has since suspended all 11 police officers who were involved in this incident
Deputy Speaker of Parliament Hon Thomas Tayebwa said the House will discuss this issue extensively on Tuesday this week.
