The former Land Forces Commander of the UPDF, Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba has put it crystal clear that he will stand for President of Uganda after his father, President Yoweri Museveni.

“To the Ugandan opposition, after my father, I will defeat you badly in any election. Ugandans love me more than they’ll ever love you,” Gen Muhoozi tweeted.

Gen Muhoozi tweeted that he will defeat the opposition in any election.

Muhoozi has severally made controversial statements insinuating his presidential ambitions, but have not been as clearer as the lastest tweet.

In one of the statements recently, he said that if “Muhoozi Army” captures power in this country, he (Muhoozi) will begin with shaping the sports sector to be the best.

A few days ago, President Museveni promoted Gen Muhoozi from the rank of Lt Gen to four star General which is the highest rank in the hierarchy of the Ugandan military, the Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF).

This made Muhoozi the youngest four star General in the UPDF.

Overtime, there have been public debate that President Museveni was grooming his son to take up Uganda’s top job.

Currently, Muhoozi is one of the most talked about personalities in the country.

“Muhoozi Project”

Since 2013, there has been public debate that President Museveni is grooming his son to succeed him in an alleged scheme dubbed, “Muhoozi Project.”

The “Muhoozi Project” gained prominence in 2013, when the then Coordinator of Intelligence Agencies, Gen David Sejjusa wrote in a missive that later leaked to the media that Muhoozi was being groomed to one day take up Uganda’s top office.

However, speaking about it for the first time in 2016, Gen Muhoozi who was Commander of the elite Special Forces Command (SFC) at the time, said, “it [Muhoozi Project] doesn’t exist.”

“It doesn’t exist. It is non existent. That is a red herring,” he said.
