I Will be President of Uganda – Gen Muhoozi

Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba has made his most barefaced pronouncement yet about his intent to run for President of Uganda.

The former Commander of the elite Special Forces Command (SFC), and Land Forces of the Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF), trumpeted on Thursday afternoon, his will to contest for the country’s highest office.

He tagged the bid however, on his quest to “repay” his mother, Mrs Janet Museveni.

“The only way I can re-pay my great mother is by being President of Uganda! And I shall definitely do it!” Gen Muhoozi had earlier praised the First Lady, likening her to an angel.

“She is simply perfect! Like most men feel for their mothers!!!”

This is not the first time that Gen Muhoozi has made such public proclamations about eyeing the presidency.

In May this year, just as he emerged from a string of celebrations organized by his supporters around the country to mark his birthday, Muhoozi hinted on taking power in Uganda, Chimp Corps report.

“The enemies fought us for so long!,” said Muhoozi in a veiled reference to critics and insiders who quietly resisted his rise in the army ranks.

“They (enemies) abused me with every name they could find! Now they can’t believe we have taken over the country!” said Muhoozi without providing details.

“We will not stop until we are in complete control!” he emphasized.

It also did not go unnoticed that during the same birthday celebrations at State House Entebbe, First Lady Janet Museveni appeared to be endorsing Muhoozi for presidency.

Hon Janet asked Muhoozi to pray to God to bless “this journey that you have started” and obey God’s command.

She added: “From his (Muhoozi) love for God, that’s how he is honest and humble. I want to say to Muhoozi today at 48, God will never leave us nor forsake us. Please strive in all you do to love God with all your heart and serve him because he has used you to serve your country with dedication.”
