Kenchic Uganda, a leading producer of high-quality day-old chicks has today officially launched its  Hatchery in Kampala, with a purpose of providing quality, reliable and cost-friendly chicks to Ugandan poultry farmers.

Speaking at the official launch that took place at Kenchic Uganda’s premises in Namanve, Kampala, The Right Honourable Robinah Nabbanja, Prime Minister Of Uganda commended Kenchic for their focus on empowering farmers.

She said, “Kenchic Uganda’s launch underscores a shared commitment to ethical farming and sustainability. Through collaborative partnerships and dedication to farmer prosperity, Kenchic sets a new standard in poultry farming. Their unwavering dedication to ethical practices and empowerment paves the way for a brighter future, ensuring not just business success, but a sustainable legacy for Uganda’s agricultural landscape,”

“Poultry plays a key part in Uganda’s economy. Over the past 50 years, exports have grown by 217% from 45 tonnes to 684 tonnes. We therefore welcome Kenchic Uganda into the market to raise the bar in their quality of their day old chicks, support our local farmers and consequently work together to improve the industry” she added.

At the heart of Kenchic Uganda’s offerings lies its flagship product: day-old chicks. These encompass a diverse range including Broilers, Layers, and the distinctive Kenbro, each tailored to meet specific poultry farming needs. These chicks serve as the cornerstone of Kenchic’s mission, uplifting the livelihoods of local poultry farmers and contributing to enduring legacies across generations.

The versatility presented across Broilers, Layers, and the coveted Kenbro breed offers farmers a spectrum of choices aligned with their production objectives. Broilers, with a rapid 5 to 6-week harvest time weighing between 1.5 to 1.8 kilograms, cater to meat production. Layers, cultivated to Kenchic’s exacting standards, deliver robust eggshells and prolonged shelf life, ideal for egg production. Notably, the Kenbro breed, a dual-purpose indigenous chicken, has witnessed heightened demand owing to its cost-efficiency and elevated returns. Tailored for live market sales, Kenbro boasts flavorful meat, appealing to farmers seeking organic and less intensive poultry management solutions.

Nomsa Mufandauya, General Manager of Kenchic Uganda expressed her enthusiasm, stating, “This moment marks not just a milestone for our company, but also a testament to our commitment to the growth and empowerment of poultry farmers in Uganda and the region. Our dedication extends to supporting the growth of this industry, equipping local farmers with the best practices.”

She adds; “Today marks the dawn of a new era for Kenchic Uganda. Our journey here is not just about business; it’s about fostering a community of empowered, knowledgeable, and prosperous poultry farmers. While we are proud of our achievements, we recognize the ongoing efforts required and are dedicated to pioneering progress in this field.”

Focused on meeting stringent standards, Kenchic Uganda ensures comprehensive training and unwavering support for farmers, empowering them to champion food safety and uphold superior animal welfare practices for sustained success.

Brian Kyangulanyi, the Key Account Manager at Kenchic Uganda also added, “Our premium day-old chicks play a pivotal role in enhancing the livelihoods of poultry farmers throughout the region, fostering legacies that endure across generations. Bred to meet the highest standards, our chicks are complemented by comprehensive training and support for farmers, empowering them to achieve optimal yields and sustainable success”.

Measured against other protein sources, poultry emerges as the epitome of affordability and nutritional richness. Compared to lean cooked beef, with 26g of protein per 100g, chicken boasts 43g of protein per 100g, signifying its nutritional superiority.

Kenchic Uganda’s commitment to fostering shared prosperity through sustainable food production resonates deeply with its core values. The company’s aspiration is to generate increased prosperity for all by producing food that’s not only safe but also sustainable, benefitting both consumers and the environment. Through unwavering dedication to food safety at every stage, Kenchic aims to facilitate healthier, more gratifying lives by ensuring access to quality, nutritious food, both today and tomorrow.
