A big blaze broke out last night at Ntinda Police station traffic office and Barracks, destroying structures and equipment yet to be quantified.
Police says the fire broke out Wednesday evening at around 9:45 PM, and spread widely before it was put out by the fire prevention and rescue services.
Although the real cause of the fire is yet to be confirmed, Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesman Luke Owoyesigire says it was from likely negligence.
“Preliminary findings have revealed that the fire started from the barracks as a result of negligence and spread to the nearest traffic office,” he said.
“It is alleged that two children set a fire inside the barracks that came in contact with electric cables. The full extent of the damage has not been fully ascertained; however, no injuries or fatalities have been registered.”
