Residents of Kyanja  woke up Tuesday to the shocking development of the assassinations of State Minister for Labor, Hon Charlese Engola.

The Minister was gunned at his home in Kyanja by his own body guard.

The guard, yet to be identified was reportedly “angry at the government” over non-payment of his salary.

Eyewitnesses in the area say they heard several gunshots inside the Minister’s home and run for safety.

“I had just gone to collect firewood, and another (UPDF) officer who drives the minister came out the gate warning us to take cover because his colleague was shooting to kill,” said one eye witnesses.

The irate officer, then stepped out and started shooting randomly in the air.

Several eyewitness accounts say the officer repeatedly complained about non-payment of his salary.

“He waved vehicle in the road and said he didn’t want to hurt anyone else as he fired in the air,’ another resident said.

Moments later, the officer arrived at a hair salon and asked everyone to get out. He the locked himself inside and and shot himself in the head.

Police and the UPDF has since cordoned off the area as investigations kick off.
