A Police officer in the eastern Budaka district has been clobbered to death by a mob after he was suspected to be part of an armed robbery.
The deceased has been identified by police as Shedrach Wakulu.
Bukedi North regional Police spokesperson Immaculate Alaso says Wakulu was caught red handed at a store of one of the residents.
“A resident Ivan Okoboi found the deceased breaking into his store for agricultural implements, late in the night,” Also says.
“He then made an alarm which attracted several residents to the scene. These descended on the suspect and beat him to death”
The police spokeswoman condemned the mob action and called on the residents to always contact the nearest police in case of any criminal suspicion.
